The Collector Launched!
We're excited to launch the full demo of the first stage of The Collector! This was completed in three weeks as our senior capstone, where we used the skills we learned throughout high school (coding, art, writing, research) to make a full product.
Here's a sample from our proposal document:
What will be your Capstone product and how will you share it with the community?
Our product will be an interactive puzzle-solving/immersive adventure game that allows its players to traverse through the history of key pieces of Cleveland's art and architecture. The game will be built in Unity 2D, and history-based illustrations and storytelling will supplement the experience.
While we didn't know it at the time, this game certainly grew into quite a massive undertaking. We initially sought to make three stages with different game mechanics, but quickly realized that it might be better to instead flesh out one stage to be more complete. So, we chose to focus on our first stage, which centers on the Cleveland Praxiteles. The Praxiteles was interesting to us not only because of its significance of one of the only surviving statues from ancient Greek sculptor Praxiteles but also because of the history of how it arrived at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Throughout the game, we tried to incorporate the story of this statue. Some resources to learn more about this and other aspects of Cleveland's art and architecture can be found near the bottom of The Collector's game page.
Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoy!
